Week three - Editing the report

After a week of research and pull resources from the company, I manage to complete the report. I mainly use the subject being thought while doing my diploma. I implement the marketing strategies and few consumer behavior methods into the report.

This will surely help the café to increase and retain its customer. The report also includes weakness and strong point of the café. This would gave the main idea or glimpse of what the café misses and lacking in term of marketing and management. I also report on the café website which is not being fully utilized by the company to promote the café. Other than that, the café menu needed a bit changes and deleted because of no demand. 

This is supported by Pn Azizah who is herself giving new menu to be put. Example breakfast and lunch menu is added few new dish which match customer desire. All of this suggestion and idea will be implementing on the next month of my internship. Major Adnan insists to me and all the cafe staff to do our best for the café.

INTRODUCTION

 CT-ONE FORZE CAFÉ SDN BHD is one of CT-ONE group company which been establish on 2 December 2008. This company is belong to a family  100% bumiputera had choose to divest their business into (F&B) ‘Food and Beverage).
CT-ONE FORZE CAFÉ is the only café in Malaysia which had military concept that being inspire by the owner itself Major HJ Adnan Bin Hashim.

For past few month, CT-ONE FORZE CAFÉ had been some losses. The figure are worrying and discourage, this is maybe because of the marketing strategy and lacking in few area inside the café itself. All are needed to be consider in solving these problems. I as trainee in this company would gave my best to help CT-ONE FORZE CAFÉ back on track. All the lesson and knowledge that I had learn from past studies, I will try to implement in this research.



CONCEPT
        Advantages  
§  Good and strong concept on the military Idea. Clearly decorate and put up the military environment inside and outside. Also put information about military in Malaysia.
§  New and divest from others café around wangsa maju. The only in Malaysia with military concept.
Disadvantages
§  Need to know what the customer really think about the concept.(few customer think the café scare and felt too formal)
§  Because it is a “café”, people always make assumption that café had a pricey price.
NEED TO DO:
Change the perception of people, it not a high price café.
Make it the cafe more user friendly or ‘third place’ for customer(beside home and work).
SETTING UP OF CAFE
§   Interior design, table and decoration of this café not much can’t be change.
§  Nice and relaxing environment.
Additional-
§  Put sign clearly, menu board up front of the café.
§  Inside the café needs a bit lighting, felt so dark.(customer would think is it open or close?)



SUGGESTION
§  Morning coffee and muffin (kuih muih). Half price a cup or get 1 free after a cup.(include of lowering  the price on common drink in the café. example coffee and teh tarik)
§  Days special menu offer.(Monday to Sunday) had a special menu of the day with a bit lower price than common. Example: Thursdays is chicken chop menu of the day, price would be 5% off.
§  Hot drink need to be cheaper or same as mamak stall.
§  Morning dish needed to be in the menu.
Pn Azizah also had the same idea that she would personally do it in short time to come.(to attract people to breakfast as Malaysian always do, Pn Azizah wanted to put Kelantan dish as the main breakfast menu)



CUSTOMER/TARGET MARKET

CT-ONE FORZE CAFÉ should follow market specialization strategy which this café had only one or particular market segment.(office area and limited peak hour)
Market specialization- the firm specializes in serving a particular market segment and offers that segment an array of different products.
To get more information on this market there few approach and research method can be use:
Few theoretical approaches that can be used to identify and conduct for this purpose.
§  Interview (ask personally few question that related to personal point of view about the café)
§  Survey (surveying how many, how often and what do customer come to eat when lunch and breakfast)
§  Questioner (few question being ask though QnA that related to the knowledge of customer about the café)

Website of CT-ONE FORZE CAFE
This website was created in 2010 by the company trainee which being given the task to create and update the website. The purpose of creating this website is to promote CT-ONE FORZE CAFÉ though the world web which also can bring more customer, exposure and spotlight to the café. The café wants to be competitive as other café in this globalization market.
PROBLEM
·      The website is abundant after the trainee left the company.(no one to handle the website, no maintenance).
·      The website is 70% finished. The product menu, business function, and catering link is not construct at all.
·      There is no updated anything at all and the effort to repair the website.



Website Design
·      The layout of the site is small and on fully utilize the space.
·      The theme colour is to strong and the background color is too dark.  Not creating attracting and nice layout for the website. F&B website should create appealing and temptation feeling to the user which can attract them.
·      Complicated flash that heavy with the format(jpg).
Content (information)
·      The content is still not sufficient .
·      No update for the last few month.
·      Other section is under maintenance .

Deepavali - half day at the office

not much to do today, just inserting few account into the excel for financial statement and the  goods inventories. I do a quick check up at the stock of every wet and dry foods supply. It needed to be check and calculate the amount which we can manage to minimize any surplus. it is because food are easily expired and spoil. after finish those check up, already lunch so today is half day so i head back home.

Day 3

Today is the third day, as usual i came in to the office at 9 a.m. For today morning, i had a meeting with my supervisor and boss secretary. The purpose of this meeting is to explain to me about the financial of the CT-ONE FORZE CAFE. They show all the financial statement which had a high overhead and losses increase by monthly. They want me to understand the real situation of business. Even the cafe had few losses, the cafe is being supported by the corporation itself. It seems nothing harm but for businesses this is unhealthy. After that, we discuss on how to minimize the overhead and losses that being burden to the cafe. The first step is to cut down expenses and lowering the overhead of each month. then we as a team and especially me must come out with a new marketing plan that would increase the income and increase its customer. We come out with lot of marketing plan so tried to implement and maybe execute when got the approval by Major Adnan.

Day 2


For today I came to the office as usual at 9 am. From today now on, I will be placed under café management with another co worker which I will help her in all on cafe management. But I’m still under my supervisor vision who is Siti Nurullizan (Senior Contract & Pr Executive). As for today, I been given calculation on account and ledger to be complete which is on the goods and foods that the cafe purchase for the past few month. The process is easy but it need patient and time consuming, account also is not like the I use to do in diploma but a bit advance and also in using Microsoft excel. After finish the work they gave, I was introduce to the staff of the cafe, the cafe have 2 main chef, 2 chef assistant, 1 drink maker and 3 waiters. Then I was show around the café area, kitchen and storage room where they keep all their foods stock.  after the busy day, an hour before going back I was given the time to use the internet.

Day 1

9am in the morning, I'm ready and excited to attend my first day of internship at CT-ONE CORP near KLSC or known as Wangsa Maju. This morning also i had and interview with my big boss. Even though i had been accepted into this company but my boss wants to interview me. before this i only dealing with my supervisor. i am quite nervous and a bit curious for this interview because did know what i will confront. As i arrive to the office, my supervisor already waiting for me to brief about whats i gonna do today and about the interview. i was informed that i will working under CT-ONE sub company which is CT-ONE FORZE CAFE. I will helping the cafe management and marketing department as well. I was not surprise because my qualification in business administration and i also had few experience in restaurant. After the briefing, i was called to the boss room for the interview as my supervisor also follow. As i sit down in front of my boss, i felt comfortable and confident because my boss is very friendly and not to strict as i thought. the interview when well even it took a while. the main idea of this interview is my boss wants to know what i want from this internship in his company and what can i offer to his company. My boss said "from here, we can know what can we benefit from each other in gaining new knowledge,experience and business value".

Marketing Plan

As i started here(CT-ONE) i was told to help this company on their sub company which is CT-ONE FORZE CAFE. This sub company is a cafe just below of the main office. The cafe is an unique and different from other cafe because its concept is on military concept cafe.The interior design of the cafe is full of military decoration and military picture which reflect the company background on what they do and who they are. This cafe had been publish and advertise on the newspaper, magazine and also showcase in famous food show 'Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan'. The menu and food also had uniqueness on how it served and cook.For example, All the menu that using rice, the colour of the rice is green that reflect on military. (i will post the picture on next post)
Assalamualaikum to all, welcome to my first ever blog. This morning i created my blog without any information on how to create it. So i just do it  and learn on the process. The purpose of this blog is to write on about report on my internship at CT-ONE CORPORATION. This company have few sub company under its head office.
